Medical Observers/Shadowing content

Individuals who would like to observe providers conducting patient care at Northside are classified as “Medical Observers

"Medical Observers" include:

       i.  students or prospective students, 16 years of age or older, who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare and who have an observation requirement for program 
            entry or completion;
       ii.  professionals licensed in other jurisdictions, including foreign countries, who desire to learn about medical practices at Northside or in the United States in general;
       iii.  professionals licensed in Georgia or other jurisdictions who are observing medical procedures as a part of a continuing medical education program at the Hospital.

Medical Observers do not include:

       i.  Students participating in clinical affiliations at Northside Hospital, including medical students or mid-level students sponsored by Medical Staff members 
       ii. Residents and Fellows participating in a formal clinical rotation at the Hospital 

Individuals interested in completing becoming a Medical Observer should first obtain a Sponsoring Physicians at Northside then reach out to MedicalStaffServices@northside.com for the Medical Observer application. Applications should be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance of the planned observation to allow time for approval.
