ROTATION TYPES AVAILABLE:

Observation/Shadow Requests – You are responsible for setting up this experience. Observation/shadowing provides students the opportunity to see a healthcare career first-hand. No hands-on care is allowed. An Atrium Health Floyd employee/provider or affiliated practice member must agree to precept (host) a student before proceeding. Once you have found a provider willing to let you shadow them, contact us at floydstudentexperiences@atriumhealth.org for the next steps. Observations/Shadowing is limited to 40 hours unless the rotation is completed through an internship with a partner high school. Minors must have permission from their legal guardian. Must be 18 to observe/shadow in the OR/Surgery areas.

High School Internships – High School students interested in a student experience for credit should contact your school's Career Counselor, College and Career Academy, or Work-Based Learning Coordinator for more information.

Pre-Licensure Nursing Student Clinical Rotation - Your school may or may not set this up for you. Contact your school's clinical coordinator. Atrium Health Floyd must have an affiliation agreement with your school. The school initiates clinical placements with Atrium Health Floyd. Proceed as directed by your school.

Allied Health Student Clinical Rotation - Your school may or may not set this up for you. Contact your school's clinical coordinator. Atrium Health Floyd must have an affiliation agreement with your school. The school initiates clinical placements with Atrium Health Floyd. Proceed as directed by your school.

Graduate Student Rotations – Your school may or may not set this up for you. Contact your school's clinical coordinator for more information.

A graduate student completing a clinical rotation or school course requirements. This includes medical students, pharmacy students, advanced practice professionals such as nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and physician assistants. Rotations may include non-clinical areas such as information technology, healthcare administration, and education. Rotation lengths depend on the program of study. Atrium Health Floyd must have a student affiliation agreement between the student's school and Atrium Health Floyd or between the Atrium Health Floyd affiliated medical practice and Atrium Health Floyd. An Atrium Health Floyd teammate or affiliated practice member must agree to precept (host) the student before proceeding.
