Wellstar Opportunities

Wellstar offers placement opportunities for the following types of student rotations: Graduate Student Rotations, Undergraduate Student Rotations, Health Occupations, and Observers. *Please note Wellstar requires an active Student Affiliation Agreement between the school and Wellstar Health System for any student to be eligible to rotate.

Graduate Student Rotations

Graduate students pursuing advanced degrees and seeking clinical rotation and/or non-clinical course requirements. Placement opportunities include clinical programs such as medical students, advanced practice professionals, pharmacy, and other clinical disciplines. Non-clinical rotations include programs such as information technology, healthcare administration, education, and others. Advanced Practice Provider Rotations

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), and Midwifery students. The application process as listed under the appropriate tab located on Wellstar’s ACEMAPP home page:

Medical Students

Qualified medical students can pursue core and/or elective rotations (this also includes audition rotations). The rotation intends to provide firsthand experience working with the patient population in the designated specialty under the direct supervision of a preceptor. How to apply: For core/clerkship rotations, contact your school. Undergraduate Student Rotations

Undergraduate students, clinical and non-clinical, seeking a rotation for academic experiences. Examples include nursing, respiratory therapy, surgical technology, marketing, communication, healthcare information management and many more. Undergraduate Nursing Student Clinical Rotations

Undergraduate nursing students, including pre-licensure and licensed nurses, attend schools that have active affiliation agreements with Wellstar. How to apply: Contact the coordinator for your academic program for assistance. Health Occupations Wellstar’s High School Pathway Initiative is designed to introduce secondary school students in the local communities to the healthcare industry. Observers

The observer program is an unpaid experience which allows students the opportunity to experience healthcare firsthand under the direct supervision of a preceptor. Observers must be at least 16 years of age (some areas may require a minimum of 18 years of age) and shadowing in the interest of healthcare career exploration. Observers are never to participate in direct patient care; this is a shadowing experience ONLY. Observations are limited to 80 hours over 2 consecutive calendar weeks.

Observation experiences must be requested 30 days prior to the observation start date.

Wellstar Team Members as Students

A Wellstar team member's role as a student is separate from their role as an employee. When a Wellstar team member is at a Wellstar site as a student, they are expected to meet all requirements of any student (this includes completing a drug screen and background check through Advantage Students). Wellstar team members are not to utilize their employee access privileges while onsite as a student. Student-level access will be granted and must be used whenever a Wellstar employee reports onsite in a student capacity.Please note the Office of Academic Affairs does not have access to Wellstar employee/ human resource files. You may request your health records from Employee Health to assist in meeting the health requirements listed in ACEMAPP.
