Faculty Case Log Review

The Case Log feature allows students to track their clinical experiences and patient encounters. As a faculty member, you can review submitted case logs and generate filtered reports to suit your needs.

Accessing Case Logs

Step 1: Navigate to the Case Logs Tab

From your home screen, click the "Case Logs" tab. You can access this feature by clicking the related announcement tab under your Faculty Notifications section.

If you do not see the "Case Logs" button, click "More" and from the drop-down, select "Case Logs" to open the Manage Case Logs screen.

Step 2: Open the Case Log Type

On the Manage Case Logs screen, find the Case Log Type (you may have more than one Case Log Type depending on the Institution or if you are connected to multiple locations) and click the Case Log Type link.

Reviewing Case Logs

Filter Views

The Case Logs table provides two filter options:

  • Requires Attention – Logs needing your review.

  • Historical – Logs that are already reviewed or approved.

Reviewing Logs Requiring Attention

Step 1: Open Logs for Review

Click the "Requires Attention" button.

Step 2: Open Log Details

On the Manage screen, click the "Edit" (pencil) icon in the Actions column.

Step 3: Review and Take Action

On the log detail screen:

  • Review the log contents.

  • Add any comments in the Faculty Notes section.

  • Select an action:

    • Approve – Finalize and lock the log.

    • Deny – Reject and lock the log.

    • Needs Info – Return the log to the student for revision.

NOTE: Selecting Needs Info allows the student to revise and resubmit the log.

Step 4: Save Your Review

Choose one of the following options:

  • Save – Save your changes and exit.

  • Save & Next – Save and move to the next log.

  • Skip – Skip this log without making changes.

Viewing Historical Logs

If you want to view previously submitted and approved logs, switch the view from "Requires Attention" to "Historical".

Step 1: View a Submitted Log

Click the "View" (eye) icon in the Actions column to see a read-only version of the log.

Running Case Log Reports

You can generate a customized report of submitted logs.

Step 1: Navigate to Case Logs

Following the directions above, click on ""Case Logs".

Step 2: Select Case Log Type

Click on the "Case Log Type" link.

Step 3: Open the Case Log Report

Click on "Case Log Report" while on the Case Log screen.

Step 4: Filter and Generate Report

Use the available filters to refine your report by:

  • Member

  • Encounter Date – Start/End

  • Preceptor

  • Rural Visit

  • Underserved Area/Population

  • Group Encounter

After selecting your criteria, click "Submit" to generate the report.

To print your report, click the "Print" button above the results.
