Harbin Clinic Student Rotations/Clinical Experiences

ROTATION TYPES AVAILABLE:

Pre-Licensure Nursing Student Clinical Rotation - Your school may or may not set this up for you. Contact your school's clinical coordinator. Harbin Clinic must have an affiliation agreement with your school. The school initiates clinical placements with Harbin Clinic. Proceed as directed by your school.

Allied Health Student Clinical Rotation - Your school may or may not set this up for you. Contact your school's clinical coordinator. Harbin Clinic must have an affiliation agreement with your school. The school initiates clinical placements with Harbin Clinic. Proceed as directed by your school.

Graduate Student Rotations - Your school may or may not set this up for you. Contact your school's clinical coordinator for more information. A graduate student completing a clinical rotation or school course requirements. This includes medical students, pharmacy students, advanced practice professionals such as nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and physician assistants. Rotation lengths depend on the program of study. Harbin Clinic must have a student affiliation agreement between the student's school and Harbin Clinic or between the Atrium Health Floyd affiliated medical practice and Atrium Health Floyd. A Harbin Clinic teammate or affiliated practice member must agree to precept (host) the student before proceeding.

Observing/Shadowing - is an “observation only” experience to learn about healthcare careers. The requestor is responsible for finding a provider to mentor, one-on-one before applying through ACEMAPP. You must be 16 years old to apply, and 18 years old to observe surgery. To apply for an Observer/Shadower experience you must register through ACEMAPP and meet all requirements. Out of pocket expenses are the applicant’s responsibility. For more information on how to apply, email Joy.James@AdvocateHealth.org. Observations/Shadowing is limited to 40 hours.

Health Occupation Internships - are an option for high school students and must be applied for through their high school’s healthcare program. You must be 16 years old to be on campus, and 18 years old to observe surgery. High school students should contact their school's work-based learning coordinator or healthcare educator to apply for Health Occupation Internships and qualify for class credit. Your school is required to create a request to intern in ACEMAPP, and the student must meet all ACEMAPP requirements to earn a placement.
