Northside

Students entering the ADN program at GTC must complete clinical hours as per the State Board of Nursing (BON); these clinical hours would only be accomplished at a clinical site. Students will only be allowed to complete the clinical portion of their course if the clinical facilities receive a satisfactory clearance, enabling the students to enter their facilities.

The ADN program does not create clinical clearance policies. GTC ADN program adheres to the clinical requirements that the clinical facilities request or set. All students must abide by these policies set by the clinical facilities.

Students could be denied or approved to enter the clinical facility. This determination of denial or approval is not based on the ADN program but on the clinical facilities that open their doors for student training.

In the event a student has an unsatisfactory background check or urine drug screen or fails to abide by the clinical facilities' policies, the student will not be able to complete the clinical portion of the course since the BON requires the completion of successful hours. In addition, the student will need to address these unsatisfactory results with the clinical facility and next steps.

Note: Please do not address these unsatisfactory results with any ADN faculty or staff at GTC.

Unsatisfactory results:

Step #1- The student will be alerted that there is an unsatisfactory result

Step #2- The student will be directed to reach out to the facility and get the student's next steps from the facility

Step #3: - The student will reach out to the colege and share the student's next steps (without sharing details), keeping in mind that a student must complete the clinical portion to complete the entire course.

Student Clearance Procedure:

Before you can go to Northside, all students assigned to a rotation must be fully compliant.

NORTHSIDE IMMUNIZATION AND CREDENTIALING

  • Students are encouraged to begin completing their requirements as soon as they are entered in the ACEMAPP system.

Immunization and Requirement Tips:

  • 1) Northside Employees are exempt from providing proof of immunization. Please submit a Northside Hospital Student/Employee Confirmation application for approval.

  • 2) Supporting vaccination documents should include verifiable documents (i.e. GRITS or other vaccination record).

  • 3) Students are required to provide proof of Flu vaccination/declination if their clinical experience begins/ends during the current Flu Season (October 1st through March 31st).

  • 4) Non Northside Employees are assigned Learning Modules to complete within ACEMAPP in preparation for their clinical experience.

  • A NOTE - All supporting documents uploaded in ACEMAPP should be valid for the duration of clinical rotation. Documents such as a BLS card or proof of TB cannot expire during clinical rotation. During Flu Season, students whose rotation starts or ends after October 1st must provide proof of Flu vaccination by October 1st. We encourage the students to upload the vaccine before the start of their rotation so that there would be no interruption in their clinical experience.

  • ***High-Risk areas are Women’s Services, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Oncology/Infusion Center, ICU, Respiratory Therapy, Child Development Center, and ED and Patient Access at Gwinnett campus.

FAQ

All students, whether or not they have previously rotated at Northside, will now need to be credentialed through ACEMAPP.

Q: I am currently employed at Northside. How can I apply for employee designation in ACEMAPP?

  • A: Students can apply for employee designation with Northside by logging into their ACEMAPP account and following the process outlined in our help desk article. They will complete the Northside Student/Employee Confirmation  Form or check.

Q: How do I complete my Northside Background Check and Drug Screen requirements?

  • A: Students will be asked to complete their Northside Background Check and Drug Screen requirements following the process outlined in our help desk article here: InfoMart (Advantage Students). If students need help completing these items in ACEMAPP, they can contact ACEMAPP Support at 844-223-4292.

Q: Where do I complete my criminal background and drug screening? How long does it take for my reports to process? What is the fee associated with completing these requirements?

  • A: Northside required provider is www.advantagestudents.com. Additional fees for searches outside of the State of Georgia may apply. Please note that drug screening and criminal background checks typically take up to 72 hours to process.

Q: I, the student, have shared my reports with Northside within Advantage Students, but the requirements still need to be completed in ACEMAPP.

  • A: Students need to link their accounts, share their reports, and have the site manually review and approve their results before these requirements will be marked as completed within ACEMAPP. More information on how to complete the Advantage Students vendor integration process can be found on their ACEMAPP homepages under the Announcements section.

Q: What are the tiered requirements to be cleared for Northside requirements?

  • A: First, Northside has tiered requirements for TB, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), and Hepatitis B. Tiered requirements are more detailed and may require students to resubmit with additional information, even if they've already completed the school's standard requirements for each. Completing a more detailed version of the requirement will not clear the student of the more basic version of the requirement. Students are responsible for completing and maintaining compliance for all school and clinical site requirements.

Q: How do I complete Northside's tiered requirements?

  • A: There are multiple ways students can satisfy their tiered requirements. Students must read ALL instructions listed for these requirements and upload their documentation to the appropriate requirement title within the tiered requirement. If they have any questions on how to complete these, they can contact ACEMAPP Support at 844-223-4292 or .

Q: What happens if my ACEMAPP requirements expire mid-rotation. Can the rotation continue?

  • A: northside requires students to maintain compliance throughout their clinical experience at the site. The school is responsible for ensuring their students' overall compliance with ACEMAPP for the entirety of their rotation at Northside. Students will receive alerts when their requirements, such as documents and immunizations, are close to expiring.

Q: How do I know if I am cleared to go to Northside in ACEMAPP?

  • A: There is a difference between an "approved rotation" and the student being cleared to begin. A student must be fully compliant (all green checks) before they are cleared to begin. Before sending any students to Northside, all members assigned to a rotation must be fully compliant. The college clinical instructor will inform you of your approval to move forward to clinical.

Q: I have completed more than one Northside Student Participation Agreement requirement. Why is that?

  • A: Your student will complete a Northside Student Participation Agreement requirement for each rotation they are assigned to at Northside in ACEMAPP. Faculty ensure the fully signed Student Participation Agreement is on file at Northside prior to the start of any educational rotation; they are the ones who sign it.

Q: Is there a specific form students need to complete and upload into ACEMAPP for the Hepatitis B Declination?

  • A: Yes. Please check on the document below.
